Bear Grylls almost needs no introduction.  The English writer and adventurer was once a member of British Special Forces and the youngest man to ever climb Mount Everest.  He received his love of climbing from his father, a former Royal Marine.

In the following video, part of Degree’s new advertising campaign, Bear summits the iconic Tombstone Rock in the Canyonlands National park near Moab, Utah.

Think of this film as a visual poem about the other-worldliness that is base jumping.  Experience Zero Gravity takes you to Norway Switzerland and France where people are jumping off cliffs as high as 6,000 feet.  The makers of the film wanted to give viewers the feeling and emotion associated with the experience of Base Jumping in the most scenic locations of the world.  We think you’ll agree… they’ve accomplished their task.

“If you only do what you know you can do- you never do very much.” – Tom Krause

You will not get better by doing what you always do. You have to use your personal initiative to go outside your comfort zone in your pursuit of success. If you want to grow, you must push yourself beyond what’s comfortable.

The video Way Back Home is the incredible clip from rider Danny MacAskill following him on a journey from Edinburgh back to his hometown Dunvegan, in the Isle of Skye.  Simply put… inspirational with a massive dash of gumption.

Yukon Charlie’s Snowshoes: Icon Alpha Series

posted by gumptiongear February 16, 2012 0 comments

One of the great beauties of snowshoeing is that anyone can partake in the sport.  Since the Snowshoeing boom in the 1990s, the number of snowshoe models and brands on the market has blossomed, providing consumers with a variety of options.  Yet, one problem endures; while the sport remains relatively inexpensive, the ever increasing range of models has also come with an increasing price tag.

Founded in 1996, Yukon Charlie’s was built upon the vision of creating a snowshoe company that would fill the need for high quality snowshoes at a reasonable price.  So if you’ve got big powder drift dreams, but suffer from a less than illustrious sized wallet, the Yukon Charlies ICON series fits the bill.  Offering an array of snowshoe and snowshoe accessories at a stellar price point the Yukon Charlie’s brand allows any winter enthusiast to tackle the toughest winter terrain without depleting their savings account.
