Chaco Tedinho Waterproof Boot

Born on the Colorado River in 1989, Chaco has evolved from its first forays into river rafting sandals into a full line of casual and active footwear for men, women and kids.  New for Fall 2012, the Tedinho Waterproof boots blend old school craftsmanship with new school technology and modern comfort.

A heritage styled boot without the old-school weight, Chaco’s Tedinho Waterproof boots harken back to a simpler time when leather hikers were an iconic representation of authentic footwear engineered and built to withstand harsh conditions, rugged wear and the tests of time.

On Performance and Comfort…

When your goal is an escape from the trappings of society, you need reliable means to get you to your destination, and the Chaco Tedinho Waterproof Boot is ready and willing to tackle the miles to tranquility.

Even if  the path to serenity is filled with a steady stream of rocks, roots, and rough terrain, fear not my friend, because Chaco built this durable full grain waterproof leather hiker to shed the elements and keep your foot firmly attached to the trail as you explore the wild blue yonder.

The Tedinho line of boots represent the expansion of the Chaco’s line of footwear built on the supportive LUVSEAT™ XO3 platform.  This platform ensures a supported, comfortable stride in any activity, putting your body in perfect balance whether you’re search for zen takes you across city streets or mountain trails.

Underneath its classic shape, the Tedinho Waterproof features the Chaco proprietary EcoTread™ sole.  Made from 25% recycled rubber, the EcoTread™ sole merges high-traction with eco-function ensuring putting your soul at peace with Mother Nature while ensuring that every step on the rock-strewn trail or slick mountain tavern floor feels secure.

Let’s be honest, even if you escape  the hustle and bustle of the of society, it can be a difficult task to relax body and mind if your strides aren’t made in comfort.  So while the EcoTread™ sole keeps you upright, the Tedinho’s drop-in footbed offers comfort and support on par with some of the industry’s best aftermarket footbeds.

With nearly an inch of arch support, the footbed has unique, flexible “lugs” underneath that allow it to mold to your foot while providing tremendous shock absorption putting you in greater harmony with the world underfoot.

Tongue and heel pull loops make it easy to slip into the Tedinho Waterproof boots when you decide to go out searching for your new spot of backcountry bliss.  Square military-style laces go to the top of the shoe, not only aiding in a secure fit so foot and boot are in harmony with one another, but providing out of the box comfort and performance you can depend upon.

And, when the skies open up or the trails led you to lowland coastal paths, a waterproof membrane will keep your feet happy and dry.

The Critique…
There’s a lot to love about the Tedinho Waterproof boots, but the one minor critique our team walked away with was that the stylish full grain waterproof leather tends to scuff with ease.  Granted, we don’t expect our daily hikers to keep the look of refined luxury leather for eternity, but there may be those who are concerned about the boots losing their aesthetic prime quickly.

Bottom Line…
Reach the summit of calm in the Chaco Tedinho Waterproof Boot. The supple full grain waterproof leather upper harkens to European hikers of yesteryear while the 3.5 mm lugs of the EcoTread™ sole keep your feet firmly planted in today’s active eco-conscious world.  All told the modern features of the Tedinho boots come together to form an unparalleled equilibrium of foot comfort and confidence.

Chacos offers theTedinho Waterproof ($150) and Tedinho Low, ($135) for both men and women.  The entire Tedinho line-up is available from Chacos.com.
