Lowa Men’s Khumbu II GTX Review

posted by gumptiongear June 4, 2012 0 comments

With towering snow-capped peaks, jagged, technical terrain and dramatic alpine landscapes, the Alps are one of the world’s most dramatic mountain ranges. It is here, in the shadows of this glorious mountain range that Lowa has spent nearly 90 years crafting authentic footwear that “walks the talk” when it comes to quality, performance and sustainability.

Part of Lowa’s “trekking series,” the Khumbu II GTX offers the body and soul of a backpacking boot in a lighter weight design with softer flex designed as an ideal choice for do-it-in-a-day excursions. In an effort to best test the claimed performance characteristics of the Khumbu II GTX, our review team decided to go medieval on these boots, subjecting it to the ancient system of justice: Trial by Ordeal. KEEN Ambler Mesh

posted by gumptiongear May 29, 2012 0 comments

On December 21, 2012 the 5,125 year old Mayan calendar will suddenly come to an end. While many believe the end of this calendar signifies the end time, scholars have gone out of their way to assure us that the end of the Mayan calendar does not signify the end of the world.  Instead, they insist it is merely a misrepresentation of the ancient Mayan civilization.

The possibility that the world will end in December 2012 is indeed remote (we are keeping our fingers crossed just in case).  However, should that day come, it will be nice to know that if you’re wearing your Ambler Mesh shoes from KEEN to work, any fallen trees or boulders that come crashing into the office will be no match for these nimble low cut hikers.

ENO Double Deluxe Hammock

posted by gumptiongear May 24, 2012 0 comments

The good book tells us that ‘in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them.’  While there is no historical evidence to prove this theory of creation, we’re pretty sure that Adam spent day number eight crafting a hammock.  What better way to hang out under the tree of life, gently swaying in the cool breeze of the Garden… relaxing… and enjoying his newly created paradise, than in a hammock.

And because we’re pretty sure Adam was no dummy, that first hammock had to be a double. After all, do any of us really think Adam was going to leave the world’s first woman out to fend for herself? While we’re far removed from days in the Garden, today Eagles Nest Outfitters is carrying on the tradition of crafting hammocks for enjoyment and relaxation in your corner of paradise.

The SOLE Sport Flip

posted by gumptiongear May 17, 2012 0 comments

Since time immemorial, the flat flip has reigned supreme.  Like the sworn Knight of the Kings realm, people turned to the flat flip for comfort and peace of mind.  Yet in reality, the flip flop has been little more than a feudal lord with paper promises of comfort.  All the while, treating our feet like a peasant toiling the fields of futility.

Now, a revolution is afoot.  The time has come to overthrow the tyrannical reign of the flat flip.  Led by SOLE, where classic design meets comfort-enhancing tech, feet will finally be provided the true freedom, comfort and support for which their fore-footers have longed. Continue Reading
