The daily routine of balancing work, family and life results in mornings and evenings being some of the most popular times to run. Unfortunately those are also the times of increased traffic, and as the seasons shift, lower light. Knowing this, the Saucony design went to work and the result was taking the visibility factor of their apparel line to a whole new level. While most run jackets feature reflective detailing to increase your visibility, Saucony went a step further by adding USB_LED piping on the left front and across the back for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.
Both the ViZiPRO® Orange and ViZiPRO Pink™ running jackets from Saucony feature three critical performance attributes that provide 360 degrees of enhanced visibility for the runner: highly reflective fluorescent colored fabrics; reflectivity from 3M™ Scotchlite™ trims and piping; and rechargeable, USB-powered LED piping fully integrated into the garment.
How does the LED piping work? Once charged via the USB charger, the jacket provides approximately one hour of light for every 20 minutes of charging. Run, charge, repeat… your LED piping is good for up to 100,000 hours. Not only does this make you more visible in dim light, but it might just lend you to kicking up your pace per mile now that you feel as though you’re running at the speed of light.
Low-light conditions aren’t the only enemy of your cold weather run routine. You are also far more likely to be interrupted by a chilly breeze or a light shower, but that’s no reason to stay indoors on the treadmill. The Sonic ViZiPRO products offer wind-blocking, and highly water-resistant performance to keep you comfortable all courtesy of DWR coating that helps deter the elements.
DWR stands for “durable water-repellent coating”. The outer surface of most laminated waterproof and breathable fabrics are treated with a durable water-repellent coating (DWR). This chemical treatment forces water to bead up and roll off the surface of the fabric. While not waterproof, it will help keep you protected on drizzly morning runs and light spring rains.
