When you’re engaged in outdoor activities, space is at a premium. That’s why Leatherman offers a selection of pocket knives and multi tools designed to tackle the challenges of the great outdoors. Whether you need to cut rope, tighten a screw, saw through kindling or open up a bottle to celebrate your victory over the trail, Leatherman has the tool you need in one compact multi–functional product.

For those seeking versatility that won’t weigh you down, there’s the Crater® c33T/c33Tx from Leatherman, the tool with a split personality.  It is neither knife nor tool, but an equal combination of both nested in a singular compact form.

On Performance & Design…
For many outdoor enthusiasts, the reality is that most blades/tools in larger multi-tools seldom see the light of day, and the added weight and size can serve to discourage daily carry.DSC_0482

What makes the Crater® c33T/c33Tx from Leatherman exceptional isn’t the number of tools, it’s the versatility of its few well thought out tools.  In the Crater® c33T/c33Tx knives, Leatherman gives you quick, easy access to the tools that you use the most: straight or serrated blade, flat screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, and a carabiner clip/bottle opener.  That’s maximum versatility all in package that has a closed length of 4 inches, and weighs in under 4 ounces.

At a length of 2.6 inches, both the c33T and c33Tx models feature a 420HC stainless-steel drop-point blade that locks securely into place when unfolded.  Thanks to Leatherman’s Blade Launcher®, a flick of a finger is all that you’ll need to put the knife blade to work.  The c33T offers a traditional standard-edge blade while the half-serrated blade of the c33Tx provides fast-cutting ability while still maintaining the versatility to handle fine work that requires a straight edge.

The Leatherman design team gave these knives a glass filled nylon handle with a deep finger choil that provides a secure grip making this Leatherman feel like a natural part of your hardworking hands.  Meanwhile the removable pocket clip and carabiner clip make it easy to attach to just about anything.

One minor issue encountered by our team is that the two screwdrivers proved to be difficult to deploy, even after significant use.  However, that proved to be a minor issue when one considers the versatility and value offered in these knives.

The feature our team truly enjoyed is Leatherman’s patent-pending carabiner.  Not only does it make for easy attachment to packs, belt or rope, it pulls double duty as a bottle opener.  Moreover, once the carabiner is deployed, simply push it down and roll it back into the body of the knife where it can remain nested with the other components to save space.

Bottom Line…
Value meets versatility in the rugged Crater® c33T/c33Tx knives from Leatherman.  At a price that’s under $35 and a 25 year warranty, these Leatherman tools are gumption tested, gumption approved.  Whether you’re an urban adventurer, or a backcountry enthusiast who needs a durable tool to withstand the rigors of a life lived outdoors, the c33T/c33Tx knives are a quality addition to your gear cache.
