The Outdoor Retailer Summer Market is the largest outdoor sports industry gathering in the world. Over the course of three days, attendees flooded into the Salt Palace Convention Center to view the latest in outdoor gear that will be in stores for 2013. With over over 1000 brands, retailers and manufacturers, it is virtually impossible to visit every booth and upcoming product.  That being said, here’s a list of some of our favorite products that you can expect to see on the shelves in the not too distant future.

Oboz Granite Peak Outsole
Dayhikers and outdoor enthusiasts alike rejoice!  New for Spring 2013, Oboz is introducing their new Granite Peak outsole and midsole package which advances Oboz distinctive look yet bundles function into a lighter weight package for agile performance on the trail.  Featuring large surface lugs, perimeter lugs that bite down like teeth, dual-density EVA midsole, and a 3/4 length TPU combination shank and chassis that spans the arch, heel and ball of the foot for structure and stability, the Granite Peak Outsole continues Oboz young, but stellar tradition of trail performance footwear.  The Granite Peak Outsole will be featured on four new styles from Oboz multi-sport collection including the Traverse Low ($125), the Luna for women ($125), the Rimrock ($125) and the men’s Traverse Mid, with Oboz’ BDry waterproof breathable lining ($160).

Salomon Sense Hydro S-Lab
Once again, Salomon is leading the way in innovation, this time with the Sense Hydro S-Lab, a soft flask ranging from 150-1,000 ml that literally puts hydration in the palm of your hand.  The flask is secured by stretchable straps and allows the runner to utilize their natural running form without extending excess energy holding a typical handheld bottle.  The Sense Hydro will be released everywhere Spring 2013.

Injinji
Our recent love affair with injinji may actually have room to grow.  Building on the success of the original Performance Series, injinji has expanded their line by fine-tuning the fit, increasing durability and integrating features designed to specifically benefit various sports and activities.  In support of the newly minted Performance 2.0 line, injinji has also updated its packaging, which sports a fresh new design, making it easier for the consumer to find what they need.  In short, the new line will give you the warm fuzzies from your head right down to your ten individually wrapped toes come Spring 2013.

Hi-Tec USA
No one understands jagged, technical terrain quite like the Italians (ever heard of the Alps?).  So for 2013, Hi-Tec is introducing the Bergamo, a handmade $400 Italian leather, hiking boot.  The Bergamo comes complete with features like ion-mask™ hydrophobic water management technology, Rustproof metal hardware with ball bearings for quick and easy lacing, and a 3D Counter Balance for improved stability and support.  Bottom line: Italian inspiration and craftsmanship forged with modern technology to provide the comfort and support needed for long treks and backpacking trips.

Pearl Tri Gear
Pearl Izumi’s 2013 Performance & Race Optimized (P.R.O) Series is upping the ante for high performance triathlon apparel. Pearl Izumi’s In-R-Cool® Tri-suit utilizing its P.R.O Transfer Aero with In-R-Cool® fabric that repels water, offers reflective sun protection and provides aerodynamic benefits, will wrap you in comfort and aid in performance for all distance races.

Whether you’re hitting the road or navigating the trails, Pearl Izumi’s New Project E:Motion line of road and trail running shoes are ahead of the pack. Utilizing its newly crafted midsole, running smoother and more efficiently will be a breeze.

Timbuk2 Power Commute
Always on the go?  Don’t have to time to stop and search for a wall outlet to power up?  Then take heart my friends, San Francisco-based manufacturer Timbuk2, has partnered with Joey® Energy to offer the first series of purpose-built bags with a power supply to charge a variety of electronics while on the move.  The result of the collaboration is the Power Commute and Power Q.
